Eggnog Spice Snickerdoodles

Finally, a snickerdoodle recipe that doesn't need cream of tartar. This recipe can be make with Epicure's delicious eggnog spice, or an equal amount of cinnamon can be substituted.

  • 1 cup butter or margarine, soft
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Sugar and Spice Mix

  • 3 tblsp white sugar
  • 1/2 tblsp Eggnog spice (Epicure) or substitute for cinnamon


  1. Preheat oven to 375 F

  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter, white sugar, brown sugar, and lemon juice. 

  3. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition

  4. In a separate bowl, stir baking powder, flour, salt and 1 tsp cinnamon. Stir into liquid ingredients and mix well

  5. Roll dough by hand into 1 inch balls. Toss in Sugar/Spice mixture.

  6. Place 1.5 inches apart on cookie sheet

  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes at 375 degrees F. 

    Yeilds approx 5 dozen cookies
